Breakfast at Kussmaul
I am often the one who picks the place, my friends follow me and they are glad to do so because as they say, I never disappoint them. This time I suggested to have breakfast at Kussmaul at Spittelberg in the 7th district of Vienna. I am content with the nice outcome of my photos on this post (consider that they have no editing, Photoshop, or filter.) But, tell me now, how lovely is that restaurant? The food, decor, and view of the cobblestone alleyways. My friend said: “I finally found where I can drink nice coffee in Vienna” and she was also excited with the cheesecake.
We ordered a Hühnersandwich, one Rösti (with salmon and creme fraiche), one coffee, a limonade, one cheesecake, and pancakes. The best of all is that while we were having breakfast (late breakfast on Saturdays) I received an email from the university. And yes, I passed that course that made me suffer last semester. So happy!!! ♥
The appointment at Café Prückel was at 12.00. I was a bit late and my friend who arrived earlier told me that the place was full. It was not the first time that I visited Café Prückel but this time we were a bit disappointed. We ordered one “Wiener Frühstück”, meatballs with salad, two macarons, one meringue with whipping cream, and one apple strudel with vanilla sauce.
The “Wiener Frühstück” was basic, nothing exceptional and the macarons costed 4.60, which is too expensive for two small macarons. The only thing I liked was the apple strudel. Except the food, they brought a dirty tablecloth with hair on it. I guess it was just an exception but we asked them to take it away. As for the decoration, of the whole deco, I like the chandelier the most. Besides, Café Prückel is divided to two rooms: one for smokers and the other for non smokers.
So, this was our experience at Café Prückel. I think that they should be more careful and I am sure they can do better. It worth a visit if you are around the area but you shouldn’t go with big expectations or you never know, you might like it more than we did. Peoples’ tastes differ.
Bon Appétit at Café Français in Wahringer Strasse 6-8, Vienna 1090
Have you ever wondered where we can eat à la parisienne in Vienna? Have you ever visited the Cafe Francais in the 9th district? I opted for the breakfast Vanessa Paradis (no idea why they gave the name of a French singer to this breakfast – Vanessa Paradis) and I had to wait about 30 minutes for my soufflé au chocolat to reach my table but in the meantime my friend Nikola served me a fresh orange juice to make my wait less torturous. All very tasty.
Next time I will go for the club sandwich or the fried potatoes. Potatoes at Café Français in Vienna will be served in a very different way, in a vase made of glass like if they were flowers.
It is closed on Sundays and public holidays and it is recommended to make a reservation.
I am gonna reveal a secret right now, did you know that if I weren’t in Vienna, I would be in Paris? Big dream of mine.
