Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

From the moment you arrive at Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa in Bali, you realise one thing. This is going to be a very special life experience. We felt it right at the moment we arrived, while our driver was approaching the entrance of the hotel, that we were entering a luxurious ancient Balinese house.

Upon arrival, the hotel staff was waiting for us at the entrance and welcomed us with flower necklaces. The flower necklaces were made specially for us and a smile on their faces.

We had arrived at Bali a few days before we visit Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa. The first days in Bali were very busy for us.

In our effort to see and do most of the things we had on our “Must visit/do list”, Katharina and I ended up literally running from one place to another. From Canggu to Seminyak, from Seminyak to Nusa Penida.

And then, back to Sanur where the driver of Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa picked us up to bring us to the retreat.

Now I look back and remember clearly that during these first days in Bali, Katharina and I were aching for a place like Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa. A place where we would finally be able to detoxify the body and relax the mind.

Honest review for Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa in Bali

I have stayed in several spa hotels in Europe, but I’ve never been to an Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa anywhere in the world before. This was a completely new experience for me. This ancient luxury Balinese home was definitely not just another spa hotel.

Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa is a traditional healing environment where the staff want to support, nurture and gently assist you to achieve your health and wellness goals.

I feel lucky and privileged that I have had this experience. And happy to share it on The Viennese Girl travel/photography blog, so that you will also get to know about it.

4 relaxing days at Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

We spent 4 relaxing days at Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa, one of the most exclusive boutique health and wellness retreats in the world. During our stay, we spent most of the time in the hotel because the lovely team gave us a personalised daily programme (Panchakarma programme) that combined Ayurvedic treatments, yoga and meditation that balances the mind, body and soul.

We only stepped out from the hotel for a bike ride to Pererenan Beach, an early morning walk through the village and the rice fields of the area, and a visit to Bali’s famous Tanah Lot temple. All these activities were organised by the hotel and were not obbligatory.

What I miss most from Sukhavati Retreat and Spa

1. The views of the lush surroundings from our own private villa called Chintanami. I miss being surrounded by the tropical jungle.

2. The 90 minute massage treatments. They lasted long and their hands were doing magic.

3. The presence of frangipani and orchids literally everywhere in the hotel.

4. Listening to the sounds of nature while being pampered with divine spa treatments.

5. Last but not least, the lovely team of Sukhavati Retreat and Spa.

Why we loved about Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

We loved Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa and we can highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a retreat where you can restore your wellness physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Our stay at this hotel was for us the authentic, transformational Balinese experience that we expected to have from our trip to Bali.

At this point, I would also like to thank Eva Air (on Instagram) for making my dream true and flew me to Bali. It was a long flight from Vienna to Bali. But at the same time, safe and fun (because of the Hello Kitty theme)

Vienna’s best coffee houses: Balthasar

If you’d like to have an excellent coffee in a stylish café, Balthasar is the place for you. Its spacious, minimalist interior offers five round tables at the windows, at which one can work or chat unbothered by the other guests. When they’re taken, no need to worry – there are still seats at the communal tables! And in the summer you can also sit outside or order a take-away coffee and go for a walk at the nearby Danube Canal. Don’t forget to try their pastries, though. They are finger-licking good!

Vienna’s best coffee houses: Supersense

Supersense was opened as a small café in an analog concept store and has been expanding ever since. No wonder, as it stuns its visitors from the very moment they open the velvet curtain at the entrance. High ceilings with golden, floral ornaments and huge palace windows remind of the old times while the interior design is a mixture of the last few decades and the most modern style.

It’s easy to notice the love to detail, especially when it comes to coffee – it’s served on a wooden plate, accompanied by a glass of water with a colorful bottom. For the hungry ones, there’s also a selection of breakfast and lunch options. Supersense’s atmosphere is truly exceptional and should be on any coffee lover’s list.

Vienna’s best coffee houses: Burggasse 24

If there’s any ultimate Neubau place, it’s Burggasse 24. Every piece of furniture in this cozy café in the back of a second-hand shop is different, yet goes well with its artsy vibe and laid-back atmosphere. Here, you can sit on one of the colorful couches or chairs, sip on a great cup of coffee and look at the fireplace; or at yourself, as there are mirrors on every wall. The omnipresent abundance of plants completes the picture. Apart from coffee, breakfast and drinks are served. A true hygge experience in Vienna.
