How to get around in Samos

If you intend to explore the island and you don’t want to spend your holidays just relaxing in your hotel, you will need to rent a car. Samos is not a small island, public transportation doesn’t help that much and cabs are quite expensive. Unless you decide you’ll spend all you money on taxis…

Where to stay in Samos

If I had to choose where to stay I would stay in Pythagorio. You can understand why if you check my photos here. If you are looking for a seaside resort, then check Doryssa Seaside Resort. My favourite hotel in Samos is Proteas Blu Resort.

MY BEST SAMOS TRAVEL TIPS

My favourite cafes in Pythagorio: Enigma (they don’t have a website) and 2spoons

Shopping in Samos: Remember to visit my friends Stella and Eva who have the loveliest fashion store in Pythagorio called 2the little store.

Villages by the sea: Pythagorio, Kokkari and Ireon

Locals says that the best taverna in Samos is Triantafillos. It is located in Palaiokastron. I went there last summer and it was super nice and the food was amazing. Just remember to reserve a table to avoid last minute disappointments.

There is an open air cinema in Mitilinious village. No matter what film they play, this is a unique experience on a Greek island.

What I really love: the bakery in Pythagorio. A must visit after midnight. It is on a side street…

BEACH BARS IN SAMOS

If you are looking for beach bars, then head to Asterias in Potokaki and to Navagos in Tsamadu beach. Keep in mind that Samos is not like Mykonos. Of course there are bars and night life but don’t expect to find a wild nightlife scene. I would say that Samos is rather a romantic destination for couples, ideal for families and for group of friends who aren’t party animals 🙂

HISTORY AND CULTURE IN SAMOS

If you are looking for history and culture, then go to the Temple of Hera in Ireon, to the Archeological Museum in Vathi and to the Tunnel of Eupalinos where you also get a very nice view of Pythagorio and of course you will take a picture in front of the statue of Pythagoras.

I hope my Best Samos travel tips will be helpful for planning your next holidays on Samos island. Remember to book your stay in Samos with Booking.com.

If your holidays are over, you are back to your country and have after holidays blues, know that you are not the only one…

A few words about the photos of this blog post. I took them during my visit in Samos. It’s very hot here and when it’s so hot, either you stay somewhere under the shadow or you spend the whole day on the beach until sunset time. I bet you don’t want to take photos moving around and sweat, like I did.

Those photos where taken in Vathi and Pythagorio. More precisely, the photo with the spectacular view of Pythagorio was taken from the balcony of Hera 2 Hotel in Pythagorio and this is one more Samos tip, just in case you are thinking of visiting Samos and looking for a hotel with views to Pythagorio, then this hotel is for you.

And if you come to Greece, remember this word: kalimera (in Greek: καλημέρα). Kalimera means both Good morning and Have a nice day.

Weekend in London

Weekend in London

Weekend in London

I receive many emails per day but some of them are just a little bit more special than the others. FoodieHub invited me for a weekend in London as a representative of Vienna! Can you imagine my facial expression every time I see those special emails? First reaction: oh, wow, no, I don’t believe it. This cannot be true!

A Weekend in London: My Top Picks for What to See and Do!

But then it happened! Last weekend I joined about 50 other international bloggers in London and altogether we visited the best restaurants. What a weekend! I spent three nights at the super stylish Hoxton Hotel, visited amazing restaurants such as The Quality Chop House and St.John BREAD and WINE, met so many other interesting bloggers from all over the world.

A whirlwind tour of the city’s best sights and attractions

Everything was just perfectly organized thanks to the whole team of Foodiehub who did their best for us to assure that we had a wonderful time in London. Although we had a program to follow, I skipped some things and took my time to stroll around the city and breathe some London air on my own.

I visited my favourite places such as Covent Garden, Old Spitalfields market, Millennium Bridge and of course my favourite Columbia road flower market! Thank you FoodieHub for this amazing opportunity and for the amazing weekend in London.

Have you ever been in this park? It’s one of the most beautiful parks of Paris, among Jardin des Tuileries and Jardin des Plantes.

Parks in Paris

If you have already been to Paris, I guess you have also been to Jardin du Luxembourg, but if you haven’t yet, then add it to your list among “Must to do and see while in Paris“. A visit at this park was also on my list on a sunny Sunday last Easter.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t take the photos I had envisioned. The sunlight was very strong and the park was full of people at the moment I visited the park. Makes absolutely sense on a sunny Sunday. However, I enjoyed my Sunday stroll.
