One Day in Vienna with TVG

One Day in Vienna with TVG

Every morning I wake up, I have the same thoughts. I am thinking of how blessed I am for living in a city like Vienna, and for having my own business and working on it. We live in a difficult period of time, yet I tend to see it all with a positive mindset. I am convinced that these challenging times came to teach us something and I want to believe that we have all taken the time to reflect on life during quarantine.

Summer is here, cafes and restaurants are open again. The restrictions and measurements have been loosened. And on a more personal level, I have a few nice travel plans to look forward to…it’s been already 3 months in Vienna with zero travelling. After 2 months of self isolation at home, when I started going out again, I saw Vienna with new fresh eyes and consequently fell in love with her, as if I had just landed here for the first time.

One Day in Vienna with TVG / 09.00am

Most of the days in Vienna are spent with these 2 activities: answering emails and editing photos. One day in Vienna looks like this:

You may know it already, and if not, let me tell you this: I am not a morning person. So my day starts a bit later than it does for others. I also work from home as a freelancer, so I can be quite flexible when it comes to timing. That is actually one of the pros of being self employed. I usually have breakfast around 09.00 and start working around 10.00. I start with checking my emails on my #GalaxyTabS6 which comes with a separate, portable BookCover Keyboard for a PC-like experience. Reply to emails is my first priority. I begin with the most importants. Working space is either my office desk or my couch. That always depends on the mood.

One Day in Vienna with TVG / 12.00pm

Working alone at home office can get quite tedious sometimes. For that reason, I continue my work in a coffee place in the center of Vienna. My favourite cafe at the moment is Paremi. The #GalaxyTabS6 turns that current environment into my co-working space. It is portable and powerful. I love working and watching people passing by at the same time. They may don’t know it, but I often get inspired by them.

One Day in Vienna with TVG / 15.00pm

Time for a photo walk. Like the ones I used to do during my first years in Vienna. During my photo walks, I am looking for photo motifs. That can be streets, buildings, or small details in the city. As I don’t like carrying around my heavy DSLR when I am not officially working for a project, my always to go device is my #GalaxyS20 Ultra. With 108 megapixels, three lenses, and up to 100x Space zoom, I have everything in one hand to make great photos while on the go.

One Day in Vienna with TVG / 19.00-21.00

That is my favourite time during the day. I put on my fitness outfit and go running/walking in the Schönbrunn gardens, which is right next to my little apartment. The only thing that can stop me from doing this, is when the weather is rainy or very windy, or when I get an invitation from a very handsome man…The #GalaxyWatchActive2 is a great looking smart watch packed with lots of interesting features, and keeps me updated if anything important arrives during my sport time. It also tracks my activity, counts my steps and shows me my heart rate during the day.

Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

From the moment you arrive at Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa in Bali, you realise one thing. This is going to be a very special life experience. We felt it right at the moment we arrived, while our driver was approaching the entrance of the hotel, that we were entering a luxurious ancient Balinese house.

Upon arrival, the hotel staff was waiting for us at the entrance and welcomed us with flower necklaces. The flower necklaces were made specially for us and a smile on their faces.

Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

We had arrived at Bali a few days before we visit Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa. The first days in Bali were very busy for us.

In our effort to see and do most of the things we had on our “Must visit/do list”, Katharina and I ended up literally running from one place to another. From Canggu to Seminyak, from Seminyak to Nusa Penida.

And then, back to Sanur where the driver of Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa picked us up to bring us to the retreat.

Now I look back and remember clearly that during these first days in Bali, Katharina and I were aching for a place like Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa. A place where we would finally be able to detoxify the body and relax the mind.

Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

I have stayed in several spa hotels in Europe, but I’ve never been to an Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa anywhere in the world before. This was a completely new experience for me. This ancient luxury Balinese home was definitely not just another spa hotel.

Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa is a traditional healing environment where the staff want to support, nurture and gently assist you to achieve your health and wellness goals.

I feel lucky and privileged that I have had this experience. And happy to share it on The Viennese Girl travel/photography blog, so that you will also get to know about it.

4 relaxing days at Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

We spent 4 relaxing days at Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa, one of the most exclusive boutique health and wellness retreats in the world. During our stay, we spent most of the time in the hotel because the lovely team gave us a personalised daily programme (Panchakarma programme) that combined Ayurvedic treatments, yoga and meditation that balances the mind, body and soul.

We only stepped out from the hotel for a bike ride to Pererenan Beach, an early morning walk through the village and the rice fields of the area, and a visit to Bali’s famous Tanah Lot temple. All these activities were organised by the hotel and were not obbligatory.

What I miss most from Sukhavati Retreat and Spa

The views of the lush surroundings from our own private villa called Chintanami. I miss being surrended by the tropical jungle.

The 90 minute massage treatments. They lasted long and their hands were doing magic.

The presence of frangipani and orchids literally everywhere in the hotel.

Listening to the sounds of nature while being pampered with divine spa treatments.

Last but not least, the lovely team of Sukhavati Retreat and Spa.

Why we loved about Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

We loved Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa and we can highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a retreat where you can restore your wellness physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Our stay at this hotel was for us the authentic, transformational Balinese experience that we expected to have from our trip to Bali.

At this point, I would also like to thank Eva Air (on Instagram) for making my dream true and flew me to Bali. It was a long flight from Vienna to Bali. But at the same time, safe and fun (because of the Hello Kitty theme)
