One Day in Vienna with TVG

One Day in Vienna with TVG

Every morning I wake up, I have the same thoughts. I am thinking of how blessed I am for living in a city like Vienna, and for having my own business and working on it. We live in a difficult period of time, yet I tend to see it all with a positive mindset. I am convinced that these challenging times came to teach us something and I want to believe that we have all taken the time to reflect on life during quarantine.

Summer is here, cafes and restaurants are open again. The restrictions and measurements have been loosened. And on a more personal level, I have a few nice travel plans to look forward to…it’s been already 3 months in Vienna with zero travelling. After 2 months of self isolation at home, when I started going out again, I saw Vienna with new fresh eyes and consequently fell in love with her, as if I had just landed here for the first time.

Most of the days in Vienna are spent with these 2 activities: answering emails and editing photos. One day in Vienna looks like this:

09.00 You may know it already, and if not, let me tell you this: I am not a morning person. So my day starts a bit later than it does for others. I also work from home as a freelancer, so I can be quite flexible when it comes to timing. That is actually one of the pros of being self employed. I usually have breakfast around 09.00 and start working around 10.00. I start with checking my emails on my #GalaxyTabS6 which comes with a separate, portable BookCover Keyboard for a PC-like experience. I begin to prioritize my emails and I firstly answer the ones that are the most important. Working space is either my office desk or my couch. That always depends on the mood.

Working alone at home office can get quite tedious sometimes. For that reason, I continue my work in a coffee place in the center of Vienna. My favourite cafe at the moment is Paremi. The #GalaxyTabS6 turns that current environment into my co-working space. It is portable and powerful. I love working and watching people passing by at the same time. They may don’t know it, but I often get inspired by them.

15.00

Time for a photo walk. Like the ones I used to do during my first years in Vienna. During my photo walks, I am looking for photo motifs. That can be streets, buildings, or small details in the city. As I don’t like carrying around my heavy DSLR when I am not officially working for a project, my always to go device is my #GalaxyS20 Ultra. With 108 megapixels, three lenses, and up to 100x Space zoom, I have everything in one hand to make great photos while on the go.

19.00-21.00

That is my favourite time during the day. I put on my fitness outfit and go running/walking in the Schönbrunn gardens, which is right next to my little apartment. The only thing that can stop me from doing this, is when the weather is rainy or very windy, or when I get an invitation from a very handsome man…The #GalaxyWatchActive2 is a great looking smart watch packed with lots of interesting features, and keeps me updated if anything important arrives during my sport time. It also tracks my activity, counts my steps and shows me my heart rate during the day.

Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

From the moment you arrive at Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa in Bali, you realise that this is going to be a very special life experience. We felt it right at the moment we arrived, while our driver was approaching the entrance of the hotel, that we were entering a luxurious ancient Balinese house. Upon arrival, the hotel staff was waiting for us at the entrace and welcomed us with flower necklaces that were made specially for us and a smile on their faces.

Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

We had arrived at Bali a few days before we visit Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa. The first days in Bali were very busy for us. In our effort to see and do most of the things we had on our “Must visit/do list”, Katharina and I ended up literally running from one place to another. From Canggu to Seminyak, from Seminyak to Nusa Penida.

And then back to Sanur where the driver of Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa picked us up to bring us to the retreat. Now I look back and remember clearly that during these first days in Bali, Katharina and I were aching for a place like Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa, where we would finally be able to detoxify the body and relax the mind.

Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa

I have stayed in several spa hotels in Europe, but I’ve never been to an Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa anywhere in the world before. This was a completely new experience for me. This ancient luxury Balinese home was definitely not just another spa hotel. Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa is a traditional healing environment where the staff want to support, nurture and gently assist you to achieve your health and wellness goals. I feel lucky and privileged that I have had this experience, and happy to share it on The Viennese Girl travel/photography blog, so that you will also get to know about it.

We spent 4 relaxing days at Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa, one of the most exclusive boutique health and wellness retreats in the world. During our stay, we spent most of the time in the hotel because the lovely team gave us a personalised daily programme (Panchakarma programme) that combined Ayurvedic treatments, yoga and meditation that balances the mind, body and soul.

We only stepped out from the hotel for a bike ride to Pererenan Beach, an early morning walk through the village and the rice fields of the area, and a visit to Bali’s famous Tanah Lot temple. All these activities were organised by the hotel and were not obbligatory.

What I miss most from Sukhavati Retreat and Spa:

The views of the lush surroundings from our own private villa called Chintanami. I miss being surrended by the tropical jungle.

The 90 minute massage treatments. They lasted long and their hands were doing magic.

The presence of frangipani and orchids literally everywhere in the hotel.

Listening to the sounds of nature while being pampered with divine spa treatments.

Last but not least, the lovely team of Sukhavati Retreat and Spa.

We loved Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa and we can highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a retreat where you can restore your wellness physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Our stay at this hotel was for us the authentic, transformational Balinese experience that we expected to have from our trip to Bali.

At this point, I would also like to thank Eva Air (on Instagram) for making my dream true and flew me to Bali. It was a long flight from Vienna to Bali, but at the same time, safe and fun (because of the Hello Kitty theme)

Let’s be honest: I wouldn’t consider myself the sportiest person in the world and I totally dislike going to the gym. On the other hand, I like to look and feel good with my body and skin. Therefore some action is needed.

I remember exactly one year ago, on the first of September 2016, I moved to the 13th district of Vienna after vacationing in Italy in August, I had some extra kilos that I had to get rid of. Residents of the 13th district, including myself, are lucky to have Schönbrunn gardens in the proximity. I decided to take advantage of it and go running as much as possible, as often as possible. To motivate myself more, I bought a cool sporty outfit (pictured in the photos above), I downloaded an app which tracks my daily steps and reminds me to be more active and I decided that the best hour for me to go running was with the sunset, approximately 2 hours before the park closes.

Be more active”! That is exactly what I say to myself every morning.

The idea behind the visual story of this blog post is to share with you a little bit of this activity and hopefully inspire you to be more active too. The last time I went running, Vichy came up with the idea to provide me with their Mineralizing Thermal Water to try out. Using it on my sweaty skin after running up and down the Schonbrunn gardens was tremendously refreshing!

This face mist is powered by15 essential minerals (and not just some plain water that you can get from the tap of your kitchen). Apart from the refreshing feeling, it moisturize your skin and give you a glowy look.

Apart from using it while jogging, you can also use it in the morning after cleaning your face, and before you apply the Slow Age facial cream. Or you can take it with you and keep it on your office desk for when you need that refreshing vibrant glow. For travelers, don’t leave home without it. The spray bottle comes in a convenient travel size (available with 50ml) which is airplane appropriate and it works nicely for jogging as well, since nobody likes to carry many things while running, right?

How I use it: I apply it on a cleansed skin and I spray it all over my face in a circular motion. Then either you can leave on for a few seconds and blot it with a tissue or just leave it to dry without blotting it.

The most important thing of all is to keep in mind that using Mineralizing Thermal Water is a natural solution for boosting skin quality. Focus on having a healthy base because this can make your make up look even better on your skin.

Be more active. Stay healthy. Take care of yourself.

Vienna Ball season

Ball: Ball der Wiener Sängerknaben / Video: Lorin Canaj / Dresses: Peek&Cloppenburg
Hair: B.lounge Vienna / Jewellery: Pour Toi Jewelry
Guest stars: Anastacia Kay & Lilia Briukh

Vienna Ball season – I have some great news. First of all, travelling starts over again for TVG (=The Viennese Girl). I am leaving for Italy tomorrow together with Anastacia for one week. This is the first press trip for the year 2017. It is organised by ENIT-Italia. Check out our Instagram channels for daily updates. And the second good news is that Lorin from Canaj Visuals did one more amazing video for The Viennese Girl blog and I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we did filming it.

Thanks to the invitation from the Ball der Wiener Sängerknaben, who gave us the opportunity to attend their Ball and create this beautiful video. It was also an opportunity to get together, talk, laugh, dance and forget all the rest…for a night! What do you think about the choice of the music?

Lorin initially had the idea to go for a classical Mozart song, but I thought that we should give to the ball a more young modern touch, and so we went for the song,“Falling”, from Secrets in Stereo. In general, I never thought that The Viennese Girl would ever have videos. But look how things turned out! Unexpectedly good! Fairy tale styling hair was from my all time favourite hair salon B.lounge Vienna, and my pink pastel dress was from Peek&Cloppenburg. Hope you like it and you get the chance to visit a ball during the Vienna Ball season.

Christmas in Vienna

Earrings: Pourtoijewelry / Make upBobbi Brown

Christmas in Vienna – It was a while ago when I talked with Lorin from Canajvisuals.com over a cup of coffee, and asked him to help me create a video that will showcase how magical Vienna is during the Christmas season. This is the first time that I’m doing a video for The Viennese Girl blog, and it is also the first time that I worked with Lorin. I explained to him what exactly I had in my mind and how I wanted the final result to be. It should be magical with a fairy tale feeling. It should be exactly how Christimas in Vienna is, and it should stay true to the philosophy and the style of The Viennese Girl blog.

Everything went perfectly. The only problem we faced was the music. We both had in mind two well-known beautiful songs and we knew that one of the two would complement our video beautifully. But it turned out to be impossible to get them because of the super expensive copyright license. We had to find another solution. However, I loved working with Lorin, especially for the reason that he takes my opinion into consideration and we have something in common: we are both perfectionists. We strive for perfection, and we worked hard despite the freezing cold out there to create something that you will love to watch. This is our way of wishing you a Merry Christmas. If you like the video Christmas in Vienna, feel free to leave a comment (because I am so curious to know your thoughts….)
