Fendi Vienna

FENDI VIENNA – It was a hard working day but I enjoyed every single moment of it. We began at 09:00 shooting with Carola Pojer from ViennaWedekind. At 12:00 we started shooting Vicky from Bikinis&Passports and Kathi from Ketchembunnies. Our goal was to photograph the girls wearing pieces from the Resort 2017 Fendi collection with Vienna in the background. I had prepared ahead of time a list of the most photogenic places in the center of Vienna. It’s not everyday that you get to photograph beautiful girls wearing beautiful stylish outfits. I look forward to many more opportunities like this one.

I can’t tell you enough how much I loved the total FENDI look, and mostly the iconic red and white skirt, that I was wearing that day (why can’t I dress up like this everyday?).

By the way, have you guys seen their fashion show that took place at Fontana di Trevi in Rome? If not, watch it here. It is pure magic.

If you are looking for something special to wear (especially now during the Xmas season), I recommend that you pass by Kohlmarkt 5, in the heart of Vienna, to discover more of the FENDI world on your own. ♥

Photography: Tony Gigov • Location: Humanic stores

If you ever have had the chance to enter my room, you would realize two things about me: the first thing would be that I get to live in a space that is packed with shoe boxes (shoe boxes around me and everywhere) and the second thing is that I love shoes. And this blog post was inspired by exactly that love: for shoes!

At the Humanic store in Vienna the other day, I found myself in a difficult yet funny position surrounded by beautifully designed espadrilles, chic high heels and a huge variety of summer sandals. I said difficult because I couldn’t make up my mind (so many good options) and funny because with my friend Tony we always end up having so much fun together. I am usually not photographed when I go shopping but this time Tony found some time to take pictures of me while in a dilemma: the golden sandals or the pink wedge sandals!? Did anybody say that it’s easy to choose one pair of shoes among many beautiful pairs of shoes? When in dilemma, go for shopping with a good friend and ask for advice.

On the photos above, you can see some of my favorite shoes…♥

One thing is sure: I must be lucky. Attending the Chanel fashion show which took place at the Grand Palais on the 8th of March and sitting in front row only you must have a kind of good luck, I guess. Actually, I knew that the runway spectacle would be special, that’s why I booked a last minute flight ticket and landed in Paris a few days before the show. And it was the first time I attended a catwalk in Paris Fashion Week and hope that more occasions like that will bring me back to Paris, even if I have to look for a last minute flight ticket desperately.

I saw the runway through my Canon lenses where models such as Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Soo Joo Park among 91 others walked in front of my lenses wearing pink tweed suits, bowler hats, leather boots, biker gloves and Chanel pearls. Besides, I stumbled upon Pharrell Williams, Willow Smith and Grace Coddington, and personally met a very special girl from Australia, Nicole Warne.

I especially loved taking photos of the venue before and after the show: white carpets, beige walls, golden chairs, mirrors everywhere, a very impressive glass ceiling above us and the perfect light for photography. And what about the make up? I was impressed to find out that the quilted eye makeup was inspired by the iconic leather bag. That was really impressive and need to find a way to do that on my eyes too.

The CHANEL fashion show would be described in one word as mesmerizing and here, on The Viennese Girl blog, we only live for mesmerizing moments.♥

I have always been an admirer of Chanel masterpieces and an invitation to explore the new Chanel boutique in Vienna together with some other editors and journalists one day before the official opening was beyond my imaginations.

On the 8th July, the meeting started with breakfast at Julius Meinl am Graben. Later on, the Chanel staff welcomed us in the boutique with champagne and macaroon and showed us around the entire store. I was totally in my element. Clothing, jewellery, a double C monogram everywhere, the newest creations of Karl Lagerfeld and an interior design inspired by the apartment of Chanel in Paris, on Rue Cambon 31.

Instead of making myself comfortable on the tweed-sofa, flipping through Gabrielle’s Chanel book, eating macarons and sipping champagne, I grabbed my photo camera, started taking pictures and thoroughly immersed myself into the elegant universe of Mademoiselle Chanel. I loved each and every moment spent inside there, although I felt a bit overwhelmed at the beginning, because I didn’t know exactly from where to start taking photos and needed a few minutes to get familiar with the new environment.

I am glad that I am able to give you a sneak peek into the Chanel boutique through my photos on The Viennese girl blog but I also highly recommend you to visit the new Chanel boutique (and the old one) by yourself, if you are in Vienna or you plan to visit Vienna, so that you can discover what I had the chance to discover. And if you are really into the history of fashion, I suggest you to watch some videos that tell the story of a legend, which I personally found very interesting.

I left the Chanel boutique with a small yet fine press gift, feeling inspired and reflecting on three things: first, on my personal style. Second, on the ballerinas shoes that I have been coveting for so long and finally must treat myself as the next Christmas gift, and last but not least, I was thinking one more time that the world is full of endless of possibilities and beautiful things that I just cannot stop discovering.♥

The story behind the Ted Baker wallet goes like this: I was waiting for my gate to be announced at Heathrow airport and as many of you would do, I also had a look around the shops, without any intention to buy anything. Ted Baker shop caught my attention because there is no Ted Baker boutique in Vienna so I decided to kill some time inside there. I found this Ted Baker wallet in many pastel colours but the baby pink colour was my favourite and even though I had no intention to buy anything, some things are just so irresistible. This product was like screaming to me: I was made for you, get me now! Since I am one of those who always says and believes that life is short and that we have to enjoy things and celebrate every moment, I bought the baby pink wallet. If I hadn’t bought it, I know, I would now think of it, regretting that I hadn’t bought it.

I usually don’t blog about things but I like talking about and showing my favourite things, if not on the blog then to my friends, and I love product photography which is something that I discovered to be keen on, when I received my Daniel Wellington watch. It has been, since then, a great challenge that I enjoy to undertake, how to present a product and how to make pictures of it.♥

Patricia Vincent, who works as a fashion designer in Vienna and has her own atelier in the 19th district, invited me to a fashion show that she organizes once per year and asked me if I wanted to write about it on the blog. So, this is how I found myself last Saturday in this lovely studio in the second district of Vienna, taking pictures of everyone and everything. There were about 35 people, among them Patricia’s and Dina’s customers, potential customers, friends and their friends. Patricia likes those intimate, warm presentations, so that everyone can feel relaxed and not suffocated. On that day, Patricia’s guests could see her latest collections of dresses and handbags, had chance to try what they like, socialize and have a snack in a cool and arty atmosphere.

Patricia organized her first “A Fashion Day by Patricia Vincent” in spring of 2014 and after the success of the first event she decided to continue the tradition every spring. This time she presented two collections, “Luna” and “Sunniva” and her special guest, Dina Lee, presented her latest works and did a live shoot.

Patricia’s collections don’t follow trends, therefore they don’t belong to specific years or seasons. You can find warm, mild or cold weather dresses in every collection. Her profession and art in general, is based on one’s ability to perceive and process different sources of inspiration. She gets inspired by nature, scents, music, art, architecture, personal moods and people.

I highly recommend you to visit Patricia’s fashion atelier in the 19th district of Vienna and have a look yourself of her dresses and accessories. I am also planning to visit her soon because I have some fabric at home and want to make some summer skirts with it.

It was a very nice fashion day with Patricia Vincent and many other beautiful people, very friendly, warm and welcoming, just like Patricia.♥

Shopping in Vienna

Don’t get fooled by the pictures. I don’t go shopping at Gucci and Prada, unless it’s a special occasion, like a birthday or something. I usually do online shopping at home, with ease and comfort, especially when I am not in the mood of going out and mingling with the crowd and I personally avoid Saturdays, which automatically means long queues in the cash desk and fitting rooms. Some of the online shops I tend to shop at are Bonprix, Asos, Zara or Massimo Dutti.

When it comes to shopping in Vienna, some of the main shopping streets are Mariahilferstrasse, Neubaugasse, Kärntner Straße and of course the Golden Quarter which is a luxury shopping area in downtown Vienna. This is the area where you can find international designer labels but keep in mind that there are also many other interesting shops and boutiques in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th districts, maybe not that well-known but still you might find pieces that you will love.

Summer is just around the corner and I feel like my garderobe needs a total makeover. To be more precise, I actually feel the need to give away all my clothes (or throw them from the window 🙂 ) and buy some new, fresh pieces. You see, it comes the day when you want to get rid of everything old.

My advice: better fewer but beautiful, than too many and useless. Buy fewer pieces, yet more precious. Always remember to prefer quality over quantity. ♥

There is something special about the Parisian department stores and this why I decided to blog about it. Write down those 3 names before you visit Paris:

Visit Printemps for the view from the rooftop
On my last visit to Paris I had a list with 30 things to do and see. One of those was a visit to Printemps in the Boulevard Haussmann. I took the elevator and went to the rooftop. There is a restaurant with a terrace and a spectacular view!I wasn’t really interested in shopping but nevertheless, I couldn’t pass those masterpieces of my favourite fashion designer Mary Katrantzou that you see on the photos above. How can you disregard them?

Visit Galleries Lafayette for the glamorous ceiling
Once you enter the department with all the perfumes in Galleries Lafayette, look up and see the glamorous ceiling of which you should take a picture.

Visit Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche for the shoe department store
Add it to your bucket list. Even if you are not a great shopper, just go and see.

From LA to Vienna

From LA to Vienna From LA to Vienna From LA to Vienna From LA to Vienna From LA to Vienna

From LA to Vienna – When I was about 13 years old, I hadn’t travelled abroad but had friends all over the world. Now you might wonder, how can this happen. Well, I was learning English in a private school and the teachers motivated us to have pen pals, so that we could practice our English with them. This is how I started receiving letters from different countries. Literally. I started receiving letters from Brazil to Singapore. There was a fantastic company based in Finland, which in exchange for a small amount of money, they sent you addresses of people who also wanted to have a pen pal from another country. I remember that some of them, especially a girl from Malta, Holland, and Sweden became close friends of mine and I loved them all even though I didn’t know them in person. They not only sent me letters but presents as well. Sometimes for a reason, sometimes just because. I will never forget my excitement receiving a parcel from somewhere far away from home. Many years have gone by and I, myself, now live abroad, but today I felt the same excitement when I received those beautiful rings from Nialaya.♥
