Although my favorite season is summer (and that won’t change ever) there is a time period during the winter that is simply perfect and this is Christmas time. Despite the cold, you want to go out, meet your friends after work and catch up on news over a punsch (my favourite is the one with the orange flavour) or a Glühwein. Apart from the outdoor activities, my home decoration is turning more Christmassy and friends come to visit and bake some Christmas cookies with me. Cinnamon smell is all over my place.

This year I had many guests from Greece. The photos of this blog post were taken at the lobby of their hotel. I used to pick them up from their hotel everyday and then off to visit the Christmas markets. Christmas markets in Vienna occupy all the most breathtaking squares and offer you the best of the holidays: joyful atmosphere, delicious treats and hot drinks. My Greek guests absolutely loved being there.

This is the time of the year when even the city dresses up for the occasion. So should we, right? What isn’t always easy to achieve in winter is an outfit that is both chic and comfortable at the same time. This holiday season Fragiacomo provided me with a pair of black patent leather Mary Jane pumps from the #EdgyRomance capsule collection. Boots are not the only way to go during the cold months. A comfy pair of pumps with a embroidered floral strap on the front can upgrade your wardrobe and bring a little bit of glitz and glam to your everyday outfit. As for me, whether it was an elegant dinner or just a visit to a Christmas market in Vienna, the Mary Jane pumps accompanied me in various occasions during the festive season and gave the whole ensemble a more playful finishing touch.

This is the last blog post for 2018, my friends. Can you believe it? One more year is over! Was it good for you? I hope so. For me this past year was the best yet because despite the workload and the stress, I get to do what I love. I hope you’ve also had a wonderful time this season and you’re ready to welcome 2019!

In collaboration with Fragiacomo.

The Viennese girl presents Christmas in Vienna

The Viennese girl presents Christmas in Vienna. – It was a while ago when I talked with Lorin from over a cup of coffee, and asked him to help me create a video that will showcase how magical Vienna is during the Christmas season. This is the first time that I’m doing a video for The Viennese Girl blog, and it is also the first time that I worked with Lorin. I explained to him what exactly I had in my mind and how I wanted the final result to be. It should be magical with a fairy tale feeling. It should be exactly how Christimas in Vienna is, and it should stay true to the philosophy and the style of The Viennese Girl blog.  Everything went perfectly. The only problem we faced was the music. We both had in mind two well-known beautiful songs and we knew that one of the two would complement our video beautifully. But it turned out to be impossible to get them because of the super expensive copyright license. We had to find another solution. However, I loved working with Lorin, especially for the reason that he takes my opinion into consideration and we have something in common: we are both perfectionists. We strive for perfection, and we worked hard despite the freezing cold out there to create something that you will love to watch. This is our way of wishing you a Merry Christmas. If you like the video Christmas in Vienna, feel free to leave a comment (because I am so curious to know your thoughts….) ♥

Christmas in Vienna

I remember that when I was in Athens, I had always dreamed of celebrating Christmas abroad but a Christmas season travel to one (any) of the European cities had always remained a dream. I don’t know exactly why, but I guess maybe because either high prices during Christmas or none of my friends wanting to come with me in the season deterred me from traveling in the past.
When I came to Vienna, things changed completely. I realized that it doesn’t really matter whether you celebrate Christmas abroad or at home. What matters the most is having around you, not only on Christmas but especially on Christmas, people who love you and make you laugh out loud.

Vienna puts on her best clothes to welcome Christmas and all its guests. Imagine how many people visit Vienna for Christmas. And I know why. Tell me where else in the world you can find such a beautiful street decoration. In my opinion, all the streets are well decorated but my favourite are the chandeliers in Graben. Impressive and elegant at the same time. But it’s not only the festive decoration on the streets. Have you visited the Christmas markets and can say which one is your favourite? The Christmas market at Rathausplatz is the most visited, that’s why, even if I like it, you will never see me there within the crowds. My favourite is at the Spittelberg area in the 7th district. But you should definitely not miss the Christmas market of Maria-Theresien-Platz, the one at Schloss Belvedere, the one at Karlsplatz, and at Unicampus in the 9th district and many others. When we talk about Christmas, how can I forget the first post of this blog?

So let’s summarize dear friends: if you are dreaming of magical, unforgettable, dashing Christmas holidays, book a flight to Vienna, pack your things, and take your friends with you. Remember: only those who make you laugh out loud because life (and Christmas) is better when you are laughing.

So this is Christmas and what have you done?

So this is Christmas and what have you done, another year over, and a new one just begun..

You don’t have to ask yourself when is the right time to visit the capital of Austria. Vienna is famous especially during the Christmas time for its Christmas market, for the decoration and for the festive spirit that you come across all over the city.

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind.
To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy,
is to have the real spirit of Christmas.” Calvin Coolidge
