Morning beauty routine

For the visual story of this blog post I was inspired by the philosophy of the Vichy Slow Age products, which is nothing else than: take care of your self, sleep well, eat healthy, exercise, escape to the nature, breathe fresh air, and use high quality skin care products that will prevent skin aging before it’s too late. I wanted to create a visual story that reflects those principles to remind me that self care is so important and it is something we unfortunately tend to forget.

It’s true that no one can avoid stress, damage from the sun, pollution, and fatigue. These are all factors of a busy lifestyle that we cannot control, but they have a huge impact on our skin. What if we all adopt those four steps in our every daily morning beauty routine?

Step 1: Vichy Puree Thermale, the facial cleanser.
I use it every morning to wash my face and feel awake, and every night to clean the impurities and remove make up.

Step 2: Mineral 89, the daily booster.
As soon as my skin is clean, I apply Mineral 89. I never thought I would ever use a product like that, but I got hooked on it because it feels like silky water on my skin and just one drop is enough for the whole face. It can be integrated in every skincare routine, as the first step after the cleanser, has the highest amount of VICHY THERMAL WATER in combination with hyaluronic acid and together the formula strengthens your skin and hydrates the skin just perfectly.

This product has become my favourite!

Step 3: Vichy Slow age daily creme
This face cream comes in two different formula, which is very clever since we don’t all have the same skin complex. The one formula is the one that you see in this blog post and the other one was in my previous blog post To get a better feeling of the two formula, you need to check it out! Find the one that matches your skin! This face cream has been a staple part of my morning beauty routine for a long time now.

Step 4: Vichy Slow Age for the eyes
Last step of my morning beauty routine but very essential. Creamy and soft, it’s easy to use and leaves a smooth finish.

All the Slow Age products are Paraben-free, hypoallergenic, and contain the Vichy thermal water which is the star ingredient of the brand. The Vichy thermal water is rich in 15 different minerals which provide long lasting hydration and improve skin quality.

As I have already mentioned in my previous blog post, there is no magical cream that will do magic on your skin. Take care of yourself, choose a healthy lifestyle, use a high quality skin product and you will see your skin shine every morning ♥

The first thing that was making me super excited about Paris Fashion Week last March was the Cartier Press Event, and the second thing was the Afternoon tea at The Peninsula Paris.

Oh yes, here on The Viennese Girl blog, we die for little glitter and glamour, why should we hide it anyway? And Paris has a lot of them to offer, that’s why we also go, why should we hide it anyway? And all those things together always remind me the reason why I started this blog: to escape the routine, get access to dreamy places, and do things I’ve never done before.

It was raining cats and dogs the moment we stepped in at The Peninsula for our afternoon tea. Perfect timing to be somewhere indoors. Polina and I hunkered down in the armchair and indulged in delicious finger sandwiches and pastries. While sipping tea and savouring scones served with cream and jams, we took those photos. At the same time, we tried to be as discreet as possible not to disturb other people in Le Lobby, although it was quite difficult to hide our enthusiasm. The luxurious setting at Le Lobby, impeccable service, live music of the chamber orchestra, delicious pastries and two glasses of champagne, everything made a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Paris. If you happent to be in the city, I would highly recommend you to treat yourself an Afternoon tea at the Peninsula Paris.

Rendezvous avec Cartier
At the beginning of this year, I asked myself whether I wanted to go to the upcoming season’s Paris Fashion Week or not. To be completely honest with you, I wanted to (of course I did) but the thing is that I didn’t really want to go through all this process of organizing everything all over again.

Believe it or not, the organizational part before the PFW is a big production. Flight tickets, hotel arrangements, presentations and shows, plus emails, emails, emails…So I was kind of skeptical and couldn’t make up my mind. For that reason, I called my friend Polina in Athens to see what her intentions were, since we spent the previous fashion week in Paris together, and we could make a decision this time together again. Together, it’s always better.

All this lasted until the moment an email from MAISON CARTIER hit my inbox. It made me change my mind immediately! Wouldn’t you change yours as well? I was kind of flattered, to say the least, that I was invited by such a huge renowned French Jeweler and Watchmaker to visit Paris for the Press day. So I felt it was meant to be and hopped on a flight to Paris on the first of March. I had a Rendezvous avec Cartier. How cool! But I didn’t stay for just one day. I stayed the whole week, but more of that on next photo blog posts.

The event took place at Hotel Pourtales. During the Rendezvous avec Cartier, I didn’t take many photos, nor had someone with me to take photos of me or for me (which could have been an option as I noticed from watching the others). My focus was rather on the collections, to see and try out some of my favourite pieces (of which you can see here), the Cactus de Cartier for instance, which reminds me of my days in Morocco, and meeting new people.

And I know, I know before you say anything…I should have published my photos from the event much earlier, but don’t be harsh with me : ) The last months I’ve been traveling non stop, and I finally found some time right now to deal with all the editorial content from Paris before I leave for the next travel adventure. I hope I will finish my work before Sunday night, because the next departure is on Monday morning.

The perks of being the owner and editor of The Viennese Girl photography blog (TVG) are visiting amazing places around the world, staying in amazing hotels and getting to know amazing people. One of those hotels and places was Corte San Pietro in Matera and the owner of it, Sig.a Marisa and Fernando Ponte.

I kept thinking again and again “This hotel property should be featured on the TVG in the category Hotel recommendations” . And here it is now, online on TVG.

I am not sure whether my photos can do justice of the beauty of Corte San Pietro. This place is way too beautiful! I tried to catch the beauty though. Having just only one lense, the 50mm, is not easy. I know, I know, I have to buy more lenses, but this is another topic of discussion haha. Nevertheless, I took many photos of Corte San Pietro, as I usually do with anything that I like a lot, as it usually happens every time I am in a place I like a lot.

Hmm, what should I say now about this beautiful hotel? I have more feelings than words can describe because it’s special, unique, one of a kind… I loved the minimalism, the attention to detail. And in general, I love people who have an exceptional sense of style and know how to decorate a place. I loved how they managed to turn old caves to a luxury boutique hotel. The Italian breakfast in the morning, a peaceful courtyard, our room the Deluxe Loft Matrimoniale, the view from our window, the umbrellas hanging on the door in case of rain, and our names in front of our cave, because this was our temporary home. Temporary, but still our home in Matera! Amazing place, as I’ve said before. It made me feel special and most probably it will make you feel special too.

The only bad thing is that we had to leave…

If you have the chance to visit the South of Italy, please visit Matera, Corte San Pietro and Fernando!

Do you know for how many years I’ve been longing to visit and see Matera myself? I recall once, I saw an editorial on a magazine that took place in Matera and since then I’ve been dreaming of this little cave-town in the south of Italy which is very particular and unique like no other. And now, not only am I happy that I finally visited that place but I am also happy to share this travel and adventure of mine with you all, so that you can all visit Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993, and see the beauty of the place for yourself. But, do you know what the best thing in the whole trip was? Or maybe one of the best things… Matera in February seemed to be all mine. I hope this doesn’t sound selfish, all I am trying to say is that I loved looooved the quiet atmosphere of the place ..and without scads of tourists, I could take photos here and there uninterrupted. I guess the high season in Matera starts in April and ends somewhere in October.

When we arrived in Matera, after about 4 hours bus ride from Napoli, it was pretty late and we were quite tired. Do you know, what was the first thing we did, once we checked in at Palazzo Gattini? Three letters I tell you: SPA! I put on the swimsuit and jumped literally into the pool, and after the sauna, it felt, oh so revitalizing! The following day, when I woke up I started realizing more of what was happening and where I was. I can still recall three things of that morning very well, like it was yesterday: Fresco painting on the ceiling of our hotel room, bruschetta with ricotta for breakfast and an Italian flag hanging on the balcony. Welcome to Matera! Together with our personal guide Mrs. Dora Cappiello, we were more than excited to check what Matera had to offer and to photograph its beauty. It was that kind of place that I was dying to photograph, although it was quite confusing at the beginning because I didn’t know from where to start, like it usually happens with all the beautiful places in this world that blows my mind.

We stayed two nights at Palazzo Gattini and two nights at Corte San Pietro (of which I am going to tell you more in the next blog post). Another day we were also invited to have breakfast at Sextantio, another beautiful historical hotel, where we met Mrs. Marcella di Feo from Basilicata Turistica and the whole team. Afterwards, we drove together to the opposite part of Matera to see the little town from another point of view. The program of our visit was quite flexible, and it was good like that because I needed my freedom to move around and explore everything the way I wanted.

I miss everything about this little town. The hot chocolate I had everyday at Caffè San Biagio, crazy and funny tuk tuk rides with Paolo around i Sassi di Matera (look for him in Matera), bruschetta with ricotta, “Trippola maritata” pasta dish we had every night for dinner and so many other things that made this trip special…too bad we had to leave because the day of our departure there was a chocolate festival happening in the weekend…but as Fernando from Corte San Pietro said in Italian “Per tornare, bisogna andare”! And I had to leave. Paris was next on the list!

At this point, we have to thank ENIT Italia for organizing this individual press trip for us, My Austrian Holidays and the Region Basilicata for having us as guests and showing us I Sassi di Matera! More on Instagram.♥

Schloss Leopoldskron

There are three films that I grew up with and marked my childhood in a very significant way: the french film “La Boum”, and the American musicals “Annie” and “The sound of music”.

The first weekend of April I had the great opportunity to stay and take photos in the premises of Schloss Leopoldskron where the “The sound of music” was filmed.

Who would have said that such a day would come? I was thrilled to be in the location where scenes of the musical were filmed and see the garden, the lake and the mountains with my own eyes. On top of that, it was also very exciting to see the place where a CHANEL fashion show was held on December 2014. CHANEL is known to always select only the best venues for their shows. Plus, we had the chance to take photos in the suite where Karl Lagerfeld stayed during the show. I still remember the moment I stepped into the beautiful suite and how it made me feel. The windows were open, the sunlight was coming in, the classical music was playing in the radio, a breathtaking view to the lake and mountains in front of me, and some kind of magic spread in the air.

In the weekend we spent at Schloss Leopoldskron, we were so lucky with the weather. It was the first days, after a very long time, that I could finally wear a summer dress without coat and tights. Hard to believe it while we were there, but Salzburg treated us to its best way. We stayed at the hotel Schloss Leopoldskron the whole day, and only went out for dinner, as the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant but you can find one right at the opposite side of the lake, a few minutes away on foot. The hotel offers breakfast though, served in the elegant halls of the palace. To be honest, there was not really a need to go out. I could easily spend hours taking photos of the palace or sunbathing in the garden and looking at the lake and mountains without thinking absolutely anything. The swing that was hanging from a big tree in front of the palace and the bicycles that the hotel offers for a ride were an extra highlight of our stay at the Schloss Leopoldskron.

A place like this shouldn’t be missed on The Viennese Girl blog. I recommend you to check out hotel Schloss Leopolodskron for many reasons. Not only for its historical background, but also because I think it’s a nice option for those who are seeking for an accommodation in Salzburg and for those who are looking for venues to host a wedding or events. I personally would love to come back. More on Instagram ♥

Since the beginning of this year, I’ve been travelling quite a lot. I used to love airplanes more in the past, but the more I travel now, the more I feel like a flight attendant who hops on and off airplanes, although being a stewardess is not my current job.

Sure, I do feel lucky to get so many travel opportunities. However, after travelling to Italy, London and 3 times to France already this year, I felt my body asking me to slow down and I suggested to a friend of mine to visit a quiet place that doesn’t involve airports or airplanes and spend a relaxing girly weekend in the nature. This is how, more or less, we ended up in Salzburg, Austria.

When Vichy offered me to check out their facecream Slow Age cream, I didn’t say no. I wasn’t really curious to check out the quality of this daycream, for which there is no doubt, as I have been using Vichy skin care products for ages, but in this case, there is a special concept behind this product which consists of slowing down, taking care of yourself, and living peacefully, so that your skin keeps its natural glow.. A concept that matches 100% with my emotional status at this period of time.

Now, from a personal point of view, I never faced any major skin problem or I am scared of my skin aging because I know that if I take care of myself, skin stays young for a long time. What I totally dislike are dry hands, lips, and skin, which among others, cause skin to age. Every time I am traveling my skin is exposed to different environmental conditions, and I make sure not to forget my lip balm, hand and day creams at home. It is something that has happened in the past, and I still remember the unpleasant feeling that it caused. The funniest thing of all, is that I often buy moisturising products for friends who have dry skin and I don’t stop telling them that they should use them.

Regarding the Slow Age cream, I noticed that my skin absorbed it immediately, without leaving a white residue or greasy finish, which is already a sign that this cream and my skin can get along well together. Right after applying the cream, I could move on with my daily morning routine (foundation and concealer). However, for this weekend in Salzburg, the Slow Age cream was enough. As I mentioned before, it was a relaxing weekend, therefore I limited the use of skin care products to the basics.

If you want to take anything from this blog post, keep in mind that there is no magical cream that will do magic on your skin. Take care of yourself and your health, slow down, use a high quality skin product and you will see your skin shine every morning ♥

The owners of this flower shop didn’t complain about the fact that we were taking so many photos of their beautiful flower stand, (maybe they are used to it?) in comparison to the strange reaction of some Vienna flower shop owners who are nagging at us anytime we want to take even just one little picture (oh, yes, let´s be honest, they do). And that’s also one of the reasons I decided to feature Wild at heart on The Viennese Girl (TVG) blog. Not only because I think it must be one of the most beautiful flower shops I´ve ever seen, but also because they let us photograph it.

If you are thinking of visiting London and you love flowers, don’t forget to check out Wild at Heart. This dreamy flower shop situated at the main entrance of the shopping store Liberty London, close to Oxford street, will make your heart skip a beat. Unfortunately we didn‘t have the time to enter the shopping mall but I plan to do it next time. The next meeting was set up for lunch at the Aqua Shard with the team of Samsung Austria.

Oh by the way, if anyone out there would love to send me flowers, should consider to purchase them from Wild at heart, haha just sayin’. ♥

London calling

London calling – At the end of March, I was one of the lucky persons to travel to London with the team of Samsung Austria for the launch of their new Galaxy S8. I didn’t take many pictures this time because the trip was short, but I truly enjoyed sunny London in the very good company of Samsung’s Austria team. The presentation and the party for the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S8 was held right on the first day of our arrival in London. Apart from that function, we also had some time to stroll around the city and visit a few of my favorite spots. I’ve been to London many times before but for some reason, this time it felt like I loved it a little bit more. We have been very lucky with the weather. Can’t tell you enough how nice it was to amble and take photos without freezing in a city in full bloom. London in April can be truly beautiful.

I’ve been a Samsung Galaxy user since 2014. Mostly because of my demanding work, I feel like I have to update my phone every year with the new model that’s out in the market. Between the S8 and S8+, I think I am going to opt for the Galaxy S8+ (with a cute pink case) because I use my smart phone as if it was my computer. I also need it to have a big screen, as well as for it to be handy and practical. Can’t wait to test the new camera and all the new features. For all of you who are asking which gadget I use for taking photos for my Instagram, you now know the answer. The new Galaxy S8 will come out in Austria on the 29th of April. Exciting, no?♥
