Pure Living Bakery

Will you come here with me? In Pure Living Bakery. I would like to show you my new discovery. My new discovery couldn’t be more delicious. A place that I could visit day by day. If you come with me, it will be even better and we might be lucky enough to meet Blue again. Blue is big, he has blue eyes, white soft hair and he likes to play with you (see photos below). You‘ll see, it is going to be a blast!

What I ordered: A dark orange chocolate, the Oreo cake, the banana chocolate cake, one bagel with rucola, cheese and ham! Mahlzeit (good appetite in German)!

Birthday girl

birthday girlMarch 20th, my birthday and the March equinox, which marks the beginning of spring. Such a happy feeling that those two things occur on the same day. Today is a busy day (which day isn’t it?) but together with a cup of orange juice, I find some time to write a few words on this blog. I have to hurry up because I have a Spanish course to attend, then I am going to meet six beautiful students of mine and later on, I am going to meet a special person and we plan to go to the theater, then to a classy dinner!

If I could ask something from you as a birthday wish, it is to know a little bit more about you…..so please feel free to write me whatever you like!

Happy birthday to everyone who celebrates their birthday TODAY!

What to do on a rainy day?

There is something strange happening in this city. During the week days, the weather was beautiful. It was sunny and if you could find the time to lie down outside, you could enjoy the sun, get warm and your skin could finally produce a lot of vitamin D. The strange thing is that when the weekend came, I don’t understand why and how, the weather changed and started to rain. Why, If only I knew but the question is: what to do on a rainy day? A strawberry cake with a friend in a lovely Cafe is always a nice thing to do on a rainy day.

My interview and blog on InterNations

Over a cup of coffee and a Tarte aux citron, I asked my friends today if they knew about InterNations and I was really surprised of finding out that they had never heard of it before. So I promised them I will write about it and I advised them to join the expat community online.

Under the motto “Connecting global minds” InterNations organizes various events and brings expats together. For example, you may be currently living in Amsterdam and are planning to move to Stockholm. You have already organised work and home but what about your social life? I don’t think you plan to stay alone in your new city! You can join InterNations and meet other interesting people, find interesting topics to discuss with other expats, useful information and city guides, and take part in the groups and events they organize. How can you do that? Just make your own account or give me your email and I can send you an invitation.

I have been a member of InterNations since 04/2011 and I am very happy that they now feature my blog in the recommended expat blog Vienna section, where you can also find an interview about my experience of living in Vienna here.

A big thanks to Valentina from Munich for the interview and nice chat.

What is in my beauty case?

What is in my beauty case?

What is in my beauty case?

What is in my beauty case? – I received one email and I was asked about the make up products I use and I thought I should write about it. Well, I don’t like make up that much, I’d rather say I avoid it most of the times, especially when I have to wake up early, I don’t feel like putting a lot of make up on my face. And I believe in natural beauty…!

Nevertheless, I will tell you about some products I use:

As a day cream, I use the “Make a difference plus +” from Origins, every day after I clean my face. Breakfast and day cream go together. This cream keeps my skin soft and hydrated. I first bought this product in Manhattan and fortunately I can find it in Vienna as well.

I am quite pale, so I believe I need a little bit of color on my cheeks. For that purpose, I use the Crème de blush No 2 from Yves Saint Laurent.

Fortunately not all beauty products are expensive. My favorite Volum’ Express Mascara from Maybelline is friendly to our wallets.

And now I am going to reveal my favorite lipsticks….
The No 97 Incandescente from Chanel…so sexy, hot red, french and classy! And the “Im-Passioned” from MAC cosmetics. I love them both. Two more lipsticks that I like are from Yves Saint Laurent: Rouge Volupte No 13 and No 11.

This products fit my colors and skin perfectly, and that doesn’t mean they fit you as well. Try them before you buy them.

Thank you for asking and never forget that happy girls are the prettiest girls and that all you need is a spontaneous smile!♥

Meeting friends at Cupcakes Wien, hot chocolate in Cafe Sperl, macaroons in the centre, snow in Schönbrunn Palace, buying candies and flowers for no special reason, buying new pair of summer shoes, a floral bag from Accessorize, making fine jewellery with Daniel, a beautiful moments puzzle of what I am going through in Vienna through my Instagram photos. It is time to say goodbye to winter and welcome Spring. At last!!!

For more happy moments you can find me on Instagram. Sharing is the fun part.

Café Hawelka

Every old coffee house in Vienna has a story. Did you know that this coffeehouse is where the love story between Leopold and Josefine took place? Leopold began to work in the Deierl restaurant, where he met Josefine. They got married and they later opened Café Hawelka in Dorotheergasse.
One more exciting thing to mention is that there is no menu; say no to a usual menu made of paper which list all the desserts and drinks! What you can order is written on a blackboard which hangs on the wall.

Tip: Go after 20.00 and order some Buchteln, sweet rolls filled with jam. You will avoid the crowd, you will have the chance to taste some delicious Buchteln and if you are lucky enough, you are going to meet happy girls sitting alone and writing poems in a dark artistic atmosphere which remains the same since Hawelka took over the cafe in 1939 . Until 2011 you could meet Leopold sitting at its entrance but unfortunately not any more. But you can still smell the aroma of Buchteln, a culinary delight, that Josefine used to bake.

Cupcakes and kisses

If this blog were alive, it would suffer from diabetes. There are only a few entries of this blog that do not have sweets and pastries. This makes it obvious that pastries are a big part of my love, but on the other hand I try hard not to indulge myself and keep in mind that it is also important to keep my figure. In an imaginary world, people would eat as much cupcakes as they want, without gaining any extra kilos.
But anyway, here is one more place that I like in Vienna. It looks like a doll house, a cute and quaint cupcake cafe.  Enjoy and spread the love!

Beaulieu

Two are my favourite french bistros in Vienna: Beaulieu and Le Bol.

So, If you wake up one day and feel the need of having/tasting/living something French (like often happens to me), there is no need to go to Paris because you can find it in the heart of Vienna. Something French like baguette, quiche, and tarte au citron. What I especially like in this bistrot is the flower motif tiles adorned by flower buds and stems and its romantic atmosphere. ♥
