From Samos with love is a collection of the photos that I took in the last days in different parts on this island, here and there. Consequently, this post includes everything that has to do with my life on this beautiful island and what I’ve seen around.

All the clothing items that are pictured on this post belong to the fashion shop 2 the little store, that my friends Eva&Stella have in Pythagorion. Visiting 2 the little store is one of my Samos travel tips, which I will include in one of the following blog posts, as many of you on Instagram have asked for Samos local tips and recommendations.

In those last days, while I am on holidays, apart from taking photos, it’s hard to find the time to work for The Viennese girl blog (because each blog post usually requires at least 5 hours work), and it’s even harder to find the words to write something down as my mind is totally empty but I guess this is the effect caused by the combination of happy holidays and summer mood. Nothing but love from Samos

Well, now you might think that I exaggerate if I say summer in Greece is not the same as in other countries, but on the other side, some of you, might have the same opinion, especially those who have been in Greece once for holidays. For all the others who don’t have the same opinion, may those pictures above be persuasive enough and change your mind. 🙂

However, I remember some years ago, I was so excited to spend one week in Mallorca in Spain for holidays and although I was initially very excited to get there, after one week it hadn’t met my expectations. My initial thought was that I should try something different and go somewhere else on holidays and not only in Greece, but as I said, that Balearic island in Spain didn’t conquer my heart and makes me think that summer isn’t the same everywhere. Summer doesn’t have the same taste and smell everywhere. ♥

More Vienna posts from September. Now we are on holidays and I really enjoy taking photos wearing just a bikini and nothing else and try to forget the traumatic experience of taking pictures during the cold months

Here are some photographs I took in Tsamadou Beach in Samos. They say that there is a harbor seal in this beach, called Argiro (don’t know why), but I still haven’t had the luck to spot her (the seal is female they say), although other people have seen that cute sea animal. The seal has become the highlight of this beach because generally, as far as I know, there are not so many seals in Greece, so it’s great to see them when they show up on the beach.

While I was uploading those photos on The Viennese Girl blog, I realized one more time how much I love those colors and how life is better by the sea.♥

Back to paradise, in other words, back to this beautiful island called Samos where I come every summer. My direct flight from Vienna to Samos had a delay of about 4 hours because of the strikes at the airport in Greece. I spent more hours waiting in the airport of Vienna than inside the airplane during the flight but I am here, so no complaints. I was supposed to land on the Greek territory at 15.00pm approximately and drive directly to the beach and even wore a bikini under my clothes, but because of the delay, my direct visit to the beach was postponed for the following day.

I had a very warm welcome by friends and family here, even fireworks in the sky. Apparently not for my arrival but for a local festivity in Pythagorion on that day. The day after my arrival we went to Tsamadou beach and spent the whole day there, then we headed to the village next to the beach, Kokkari, where we had an evening stroll before we get back home. On this post I share some photos of Kokkari.

So glad to see them all again, friends and family, and I enjoy my time by doing simple things that I missed so much, like eating cheese pie at 3.00 am in the night and drinking granita by the sea. So glad to be back to paradise and to call this piece of heaven on earth home sweet home.♥

Every summer has a story, Santorini has the best…

The first time I visited Santorini was in 1998 with my pen pal friend from Holland (Bianca, if you are reading this, where are you?). Second time I visited Santorini was in 2003 with another friend of mine. Now I am about to tell you a crazy story. That friend of mine, in the summer of 2003, fell for a guy whom she met in Mykonos. That guy told her that at the end of August he would be working in a bar in Santorini. So now you can imagine why I went to Santorini in August 2003. I had to sacrifice myself to accompany my friend who was in search of her love. It was the last weekend of August, the end of the summer. My friend and I were sitting in the living room and the school was closed. There was nothing to do, we were listening to radio music, we didn’t talk. We were little sad that the summer was coming to an end and that the school was about to start again. Suddenly someone (I don’t remember whether it was me or her) popped the idea to go to Santorini for the weekend. It was around 18.00 and the ship was departing from the port of Piraeus at 22.00. I went home, put some things on a sac voyage and we both met at the harbor, a little bit before the departure of the ship. Don’t ask me where we found accommodation because I don’t remember at all. We had a specific mission to carry out. We didn’t even care that much for issues such as accommodation. But don’t worry, we didn’t stay on the streets.

10 years later I am back to Santorini. What is that thing that makes you love a place forever? What is that thing that makes you keep a place forever sealed in your heart? What is that thing that makes you wanting to come back to a place over and over again? I guess that magic in the air in combination with the mind-blowing landscape. Once I arrived this summer in Santorini, I pinched myself, still hardly believed it, but yes I was back again.

You might wonder now if we met that guy, the reason for the trip to Santorini in 2003….No, we didn’t. It was just a summer love. It stayed in my friend’s memory like that. You know, one of those summer loves that you wish you could have next to you in the cold winter nights.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain
